Wordle Bulletin # 482 (October 14, 2022)

Target Word: FLOOR
Typical Wordle Word Construct
: 2 Vowels and one or more compound consonants (seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: Typical; 2vowels (2 O’s); 1 compound consonant (FL)
# Of Guesses: 4.0 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*; 4 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: SOARE
Seed Word Revelations:
O and R, but not their positions
# Of Possible Solutions after the Seed Word: Too many to count!

Second Word: UNITY
Revelations from the 2nd word: None; but its value add was not zero; the number of possibilities were reduced to 16 – quite an achievement (list of words is available at the end**)
# Of Possible Solutions after the Second Word: 16; it was time to deploy the Eliminate-not-Enumerate strategy

EnotE (Eliminate-not-Enumerate) strategy deployment: I didn’t think that there is one word that would eliminate 15 of the 16 possibilities. After a lot of thinking I came up with CROWD.  To my utter and pleasant surprise, it eliminated 15 of the 16, showing the power of the EnotE strategy!!

Final thoughts: Wordle outcome has a lot to do with luck, not just skill. LadyLuck was smiling on me and WordleGod was not being too fiendish. Within the 16 possible answers they were 4 sets of orthographic neighbor words, which can always life difficult.  Luckily the target word stood by itself.
