Wordle Bulletin – Wordle #442 (September 4, 2022)
Caveat: I am not to be confused with WordleGuru. I am under my guru’s tutelage.
I am an average player. My average “#of guesses required to solve a puzzle” score is pretty similar to that of New York Times’ WordleBot.
WordleGuru Grid
Wordle #442; September 4, 2022
Overall Summary: An easy one, provided the “right” seed word and the 2nd words are chosen.
Difficulty (Easy, Medium, Difficult): Medium. WordleBot score – 4
Players may treat the target word (INTER) as not being a standalone word and not consider it.
Structure: Consistent with the most frequent construct (i.e., >50% frequency) – 2 vowels; 1 Compound consonant (NT); E is the most frequent letter in the 4th position; R is the 4th most frequent letter in the 5th position.
Quality of the seed word: Effective, since it revealed the presence of three letters – E, R and T
Quality of the second word: It is the 2nd word in the ALERT/COINS/PUDGY triad. Please note that both ALERT and COINS have anagrams, but based on my analysis, anagrams are not as effective as the words used here. ALERT has 2 anagrams – ALTER, and LATER. COINS has 3 anagrams – SONIC, ICONS, and SCION
Combination of the first 2 words: Extremely effective since between the two all five letters in the target letter got revealed.
Possible Solutions: There are 2 possible solutions – TRINE and INTER. Since TRINE is not a “common” word, the answer is a no brainer – INTER.
Eliminate-not-Enumerate strategy: Didn’t need to deploy for this puzzle.
Final Thoughts: Time to thank LadyLuck and WordleGod for their grace today.
