Wordle Bulletin #718 (June 7, 2023) — “Crowded neighborhood. ☹ 8 Orthographic neighbor words!!!!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: HATER (Non–Typical – 2 vowels, NO compound/ paired consonants) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.6 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. 😊
Seed Word: ALTER: first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
What we learned from the Seed Word: It revealed the last 4 letters – ATER. 😊 I was elated until reality hit – 8 possible answers with just the first letter different – OATER, EATER, WATER, TATER, RATER, HATER, CATER and DATER. Damn!! ☹ Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
2nd Word: CHORD: I could not come up with one word that would eliminate seven of the eight. So, I had to look for the second-best alternative. I toyed between CHORD and CROWD. The frequencies of H vs. W in the first position are 3.5% and 1.5% respectively. This is the reason I chose CHORD. It proved to be the right elimination word. Won the coin toss. 😊
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side. Snatched a win from the jaws of defeat!!!!! 😊
