Wordle Bulletin #723 (June 12, 2023) — “You can be right by being WRONG!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: WRONG (Non-Typical – 1 vowel, 2 compound/ paired consonants) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 3.8 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 3 for WordleGuru. 😊
Seed Word: ALTER: first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
What we learned from the Seed Word: It revealed no vowels and 1 consonant (R), but not its position. Since we didn’t reveal any vowel, we needed to search for vowels.
2nd Word: IRONY: I chose IRONY instead of SONIC (2nd word of the triad) since IRONY has 3 vowels (including Y) and offers a chance to confirm the position of R. At this stage, 3 possibilities include a pair of orthographic neighbor words – FROND, [WRONG, PRONG]. In my judgment FROND is not a common word. So, the choice came down to WRONG or PRONG. I chose WRONG based on my gut feel. Luckily it worked. 😊
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was in my favor. 😊
