Wordle Bulletin #724 (June 13, 2023) — “Vowel deficit!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: PLUNK (Non-Typical – 1 vowel, 2 compound/ paired consonants) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.1 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru.
Seed Word: ALTER: first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
What we learned from the Seed Word: It revealed no vowels and 1 consonant (L) in the 2nd position. Since we didn’t reveal any vowels, we needed to search for vowels.
2nd Word: PIOUS: I chose PIOUS instead of SONIC (2nd word of the triad) since PIOUS has 3 vowels and 2 high frequency consonants. At this stage 5 possibilities but only 4 regular words in 2 sets of orthographic neighbor words – [PLUNK, PLUCK], [PLUMP, PLUMB, PLUMY]. In my judgment PLUMY is not commonly used, so I had to deal with only four words. It was time to deploy the EnotE© strategy. I chose CHUMP as the elimination word, and it did the job. 😊
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in play.
