Today’s Wordle: CRANE (Typical)[spacer height=”20px”]
NYT WordleBot average score: 3.4 (per Marc McLaren*)
WordleGuru score: 3 😊
Seed Word: ALTER: It is the first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
2nd Word: CHASE: It is not the second word of the triad.
Reason for selection: A typical Wordle word has 2 vowels. Since the seed word revealed 2 vowels, we didn’t need to search for additional vowels. Therefore, I chose not to use the second word of the triad (SONIC). Instead, I used CHASE. I had two objectives in mind with CHASE, 1) confirm the positions of the two vowels (A and E) and 2) look for the presence of 3 high volume consonants (C, H and S).
What we learned: CHASE confirmed the positions of the two vowels (stroke of luck) and revealed the consonant “C” in the 1st position. At this stage there are 3 possible answers, all three orthographic neighbor words – CRANE, CRAZE and CRAVE. ☹
Next step: Either deploy the EnotE© strategy (to ensure the score does not exceed 4) or “spin the roulette wheel” with the knowledge that the score may turn out to be a 5. I decided in favor of “spinning the roulette wheel”. I tend not to use the EnotE© strategy if there are only 3 possibilities.
3rd Word: CRANE: It is not the third word of the triad.
Reason for selection: The frequency data favored CRANE. Luckily it was the answer. My score could easily have gone to 4 or 5. 😊
Interesting Observation: CRANE is one of the recommended seed words! I don’t use CRANE but those who do, scored an ACE (a hole in 1 in the golf parlance) today!😊😊😊😊😊
