Wordle Bulletin #710 (May 30, 2023) — “A parade of 4s continues – regression to the mean!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: KNEEL (Typical2 vowels, 1 compound/ paired consonants) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.1 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru.

Seed Word: ROATE: first word of the triad – ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH.
What we learned from the Seed Word: one vowel E in the 5th position. Since most of the Wordle words have two vowels, I needed to search for additional vowels.

2nd Word: SULCI: I stayed with the 2nd word of the triad – SULCI. At this stage 13 possibilities – WHEEL, WHELM, KNEEL, ELEGY, EXPEL, JEWEL, DWELL, BLEND, [BEVEL, LEVEL], [BLEED, BLEEP], and NEWLY. It was time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd Word:  Today, I could not think of a word that would have eliminated 12 of the 13 possibilities.  So, I had to look for the second-best option. I always prefer to use one of the possibilities as an elimination word if it makes sense.  The reason is that once in a while the word I choose from the list of possibilities happens to be the target word.

I chose BLEND as the elimination word. Though it was not the target word, it did the job as an elimination word leading me to the target word – KNEEL. Had BLEND not worked, I was looking at a score of 5 or higher.

Final Thoughts:Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was in my favor. 😊
