Wordle Bulletin # 500 (November 1, 2022)
My strategy is built to ensure I solve 95% of the puzzles in 4 guesses or less.
It is not built to always shoot for the lowest score possible.
The score depends a lot on the seed word.
Wordle is a game of luck and skill.
Target Word: PINEY
Typical Wordle Word Construct: 2 Vowels and one compound/paired consonant (2 letters or 3 letters; seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: A–Typical; 2 Vowels (I and Y), no Compound consonant
# Of Guesses: 4.4 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*; 4 for WordleGuru
Seed Word: ALERT; I decided to use an anagram of LATER (seed word I used on Oct 30)
Seed Word Revelations: 1 vowel (E) but not its position; no consonant
# Of Possible Solutions after the seed word: too many
Second Word: SONIC; it includes high frequency vowels (O and I) and high frequency consonants (C, S, N)
Second Word Revelations: 1 vowel (I) but not its position; one consonant (N) in the 3rd position
# Of Possible Solutions after the second word: 10 including 3 sets of orthographic neighbor words – [MINED, FINED, WINED, PINED], [WINEY, PINEY], [DINGE, HINGE], GENIE, and ENNUI. It was time to deploy the EnotE strategy.

EnotE (Eliminate-not-Enumerate) Strategy deployment: Since yesterday’s Wordle word ended in a Y, I didn’t think today’s will too. I always prefer to choose one of the possibilities as the elimination word. But today none of the possibilities would have eliminated the rest. So, I had to come up with an alternative. I chose IMBED. It worked and led to the target word – PINEY.

Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. So much depends on the seed word. Today’s seed word revealed only 1 letter and that too not in its correct position. But the second word proved to be effective. There was no scope of a score of 3 today. LadyLuck was on the fence today since I was able to solve the puzzle in 4 guesses.
