Wordle Bulletin # 508 (November 9, 2022)
My strategy is built to ensure I solve 95% of the puzzles in 4 guesses or less. It is not built to always shoot for the lowest score possible. The score depends a lot on the seed word. Wordle is a game of luck and skill.

Target Word: RAINY
Typical Wordle Word Construct: 2 Vowels and one compound/paired consonant (2 letters or 3 letters; seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: A-Typical; 3 Vowels (A, I, Y), No compound consonant
# Of Guesses: 3.4 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*; 3 for WordleGuru
Seed Word: STARE; I looked at the last 3–5 Wordle words to decide between STARE, STALE, and LATER. (A and E are the two highest frequency vowels; R, S, T, and L are the 4 highest frequency consonants.)
Seed Word Revelations: 1 consonant (R), 1 vowel (A) but not their exact positions
# Of Possible Solutions after the seed word: more than 75. It was time to investigate the possibility of deploying the EnotE strategy, even though they were 75+ possible answers.
Second Word: OPIUM; I had a hunch that the last letter is a Y. This was based on the fact that on an average the letter Y in the 5th position appears 1 out of 5 times. So, I didn’t want to include Y in the second word. I still needed to search for at least one more vowel. After a lot of deliberation, I came up with the word OPIUM (includes three vowels and 2 relatively high frequency consonants).
To my pleasant surprise, and utter disbelief, it eliminated all 75+ words, except for two – FRIAR and RAINY. This is a yet another new record for an elimination word after yesterday’s record.
I didn’t think FRIAR is a common word, so the target word must be RAINY. Bingo!

EnotE (Eliminate-not-Enumerate) Strategy deployment: Deployed right after the first word. It worked beautifully! Led me to the target word!! 😊

Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. So much depends on the seed word. If one used RAISE (it is one of the 10 best seed words) today, the puzzle could have been solved in 2 guesses! I favor seed words with 2 vowels instead of 3 vowels.
