Wordle Bulletin #632 (March 13, 2023) — “Even Tiger Woods occasionally makes errant shots!”

Today’s Wordle: A pathetic performance today.
Target Word
: BLAME
# Of Guesses:
4.2 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 5 for WordleGuru ☹☹☹☹☹

Typical or atypical target word? — Typical, it contains only 2 vowels (A, E) and one compound consonant (BL). The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 2 vowels – A and E in 3rd and 5th positions respectively. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more discovery.

2nd word: CHOIL
(2nd word of the triad STARE/CHOIL/PUDGY): It revealed L but not its position.  10+ possibilities (not all common words) at this point including 3 sets of orthographic neighbor words (ouch!) – [BLAME, BLAZE, BLADE], [GLAZE, GLADE], [FLAKE, FLAME], LEAVE, PLAIN, QUAIL, and DWALE.  Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word: FLUNG – could not come up with one word that would eliminate all but 1 possibilities.  The 3 sets of orthographic neighbor words were the major impediment.  Prepared to do 2 rounds of EnotE ©

I chose FLUNG for the first round.  It eliminated all but three (orthographic neighbor words) – BLAME, BLAZE, and BLADE.

4th word: AMAZE – it did the job and led to BLAME as the answer.

Final Thoughts: Today’s Wordle proved to be very difficult for me.  It may have been due to the seed word or a combination of the seed word & 2nd word. I have found that the discovery of A and E by my seed word makes my life difficult!

Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not on my side.
