Wordle Bulletin #667 (April 17, 2023) — “3s in dreams only!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: WHIFF
# Of Guesses:
4.4 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. 😊

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: No revelations! ☹

2nd word: COLIN: (2nd word in my “go-to” triad — STARE/COLIN/PUDGY). It revealed no consonants and one vowel (I), but not its position. At this stage 11 possibilities including several orthographic neighbor words.   Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word: WIMPY: I prefer to use one of the possible words as an elimination word (WIMPY is one of the 11 possibilities) if it makes sense.  Such a move affords the possibility of solving the puzzle if luck was in my corner. It wasn’t the case today.  This word only eliminated 9 of the 11, leaving me with two words to deal with – WHIFF and WHIZZ. ☹   There is no logic to picking one from the two.  It’s like a coin toss.  No skill!

The seed word (STARE) and the second word (COLIN) represent the 10 most frequent letters in the Wordle-words to-date. The 3rd word (PUDGY) represents 5 of the next 6 highest frequency letters (11-16).

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in my favor, otherwise WIMPY would have been the answer.  There was no ideal elimination word either, left me with 2 words to deal with.
