Wordle Bulletin #671 (April 21, 2023) — “first 4 with the new triad; hope it doesn’t set a trend!”

Note:  I am testing a new scheme starting with puzzle #669.  Until now the first two words of the triad represented the 10 most frequent letters (STARE/COLIN/PUDGY or ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY). The 3rd word of the triad excluded the 12th most frequent letter (H) in favor of the 16th most frequent letter (G). I want to change the triad to include H.   The new triad is CHAOS/TIMER/DUPLY. The first two words of the triad include H and M (12th and 17th most frequent) and exclude L and N (6th and 9th most frequent).  I will give this triad at least 30 days for testing before making a judgement. (One could use the anagrams of TIMER – REMIT and MERIT)

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: KAYAK
# Of Guesses:
4.1 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. 😐

Seed Word: CHAOS – The new seed word since 4/19.
What we learned from the Seed Word: One vowel (A), but not its position.

2nd word: REMIT: (2nd word in my “go-to” triad — CHAOS/REMIT or MERIT or TIMER/DUPLY). It did not reveal any letters. ☹ Too many possibilities at this stage.  Need more revelations/eliminations.

3rd word: DUPLY: (3rd word of the triad). It revealed one letter (Y) but not its position. After this revelation, there was only one possibility — KAYAK. 😊 The revelation of Y (possible in positions of 1–4, but not 5) also had the benefit of knowing that there cannot be a Y in the 5th spot. This was huge, as it eliminated lots of words that end in a Y. 😊

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not much of a factor.
