Wordle Bulletin #726 (June 15, 2023) — “Is 4 a good score? – MAYBE!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: MAYBE (NON-Typical3 vowels (including Y), No compound/ paired consonant) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.3 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. 😊

Seed Word: ALTER: first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
What we learned from the Seed Word: It revealed 2 vowels (A and E) but not their positions. Since most of the Wordle words have 2 vowels, we didn’t need to search for additional vowels.

2nd Word: CHASE: Since we didn’t need to search for additional vowels, I chose CHASE for 2 reasons – 1) attempt to determine the exact positions of the two vowels (A and E) and 2) search for 3 high frequency consonants. It only confirmed the position of E and nothing else.  At this stage 11 possibilities.  Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word: BUMPY: I could not think of a word that would have eliminated 10 of the 11 possibilities.  So, I had to look for the second-best option.  I chose BUMPY as the elimination word. BUMPY has 3 high frequency consonants and 2 vowels (U and Y). It worked and led me to the answer – MAYBE. 😊 Had it not worked, I was looking at a score of 5 or even 6.

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side – the first elimination word worked. 😊
