Wordle Bulletin #622 (March 3, 2023) — “Back to 4 :-(“

Good times only lasted for one game; back to 4.

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: SQUAT
# Of Guesses: 3.8 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. ☹

Typical or atypical target word? — Typical, it contains 2 vowels (A and U) and one compound consonant (SQ). The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.

Seed Word: STAIR – An old seed word, recycled.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 2 letters (T and A), but not their positions.  7 possibilities at this stage – SPLAT, SAUTE, SATAN, SALTY, SANTA, SWEAT, and SQUAT.  Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

2nd word: PANTY (not the “go-to” 2nd word with the new seed word – CLONE);
Could not come up with a word that would eliminate 6 of the 7 possibilities. Chose PANTY as the best alternative, knowing fully well that it would not cover SWEAT and SQUAT.  Decided to take the chance.  The fears were realized!  Now a coin toss between SWEAT, and SQUAT.

3rd word: SWEAT – lost the coin toss. ☹

Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill.   Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not on my side.

Incidentally, the standard go-to 2nd word (CLONE) paired with STAIR (seed word) would have eliminated all but SWEAT!  I tried to “outwit” the Wordle God and paid the price!
