Wordle Bulletin #627 (March 8, 2023) — “Luck matters more than skill in this game!

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: REGAL
# Of Guesses:
4.0 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 3 for WordleGuru😊.

Typical or atypical target word? — Atypical, it contains 2 vowels (A, E) but no compound consonant. The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word going forward.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 3 letters (A, R and E), but not their positions. Too many possibilities at this stage.  Need more discovery.

2nd word: LYNCH (
Not the 2nd word of the triad STARE/CHOIL): Since 2 vowels were revealed by the seed word, the priority was the discovery of additional consonants. There were several options for approach – 1) try to find the positions of one or more of the 3 letters revealed by the seed word, 2) focus on the revelation of additional consonants.  I chose the 2nd route and picked LYNCH, as the 2nd word. Three viable options at this stage – REGAL, LAGER and LARGE. There were 3 additional possibilities, but those were not common words per my judgment.  Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word:  REGAL; Any of the 3 words would have worked as an elimination word. I chose REGAL just on gutfeel.  Lucky for me it worked.

Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side.
