Wordle Bulletin #666 (April 16, 2023) — “Can’t shake off 4s!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: DWELT
# Of Guesses:
??  (not available) WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed one consonant (T) and one vowel (E) but not their positions. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more exploration.

2nd word: COLIN: (2nd word in my “go-to” triad — STARE/COLIN/PUDGY). It revealed one consonant (L), but not its position. At this stage five possibilities – LEFTY, LETUP, EXULT, FLEET, and DWELT. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word: FLEET: I prefer to use one of the possible words as an elimination word if it makes sense.  Such a move affords the possibility of solving the puzzle, if I am lucky. It wasn’t the case today.  Still the word did its job and eliminated 4 of the 5 and led to the answer – DWELT.   I didn’t think DWELT would be the answer since, in my mind, this word is not used regularly.

The seed word (STARE) and the second word (COLIN) represent the 10 most frequent letters in the Wordle-words to-date. The 3rd word (PUDGY) represents 5 of the next 6 highest frequency letters (11-16).

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in my favor, otherwise FLEET would have been the answer. 🙁
