Wordle Bulletin #706 (May26, 2023) — “A 4 was long overdue!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: SWINE (Typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/ paired consonant) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.2 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: ROATE: first word of the triad – ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH.
What we learned from the Seed Word: Presence of 1 vowel (E) in the 5th position.  Since most of the Wordle words have 2 vowels, I needed to search for additional vowels.

2nd Word: SULCI: SULCI is the 2nd word of the triad. It revealed 1 consonant (S) in the 1st position and 1 vowel (I), but not its position. At this stage 13 possibilities including many sets of orthographic neighbor words and compound consonants in the 1st and 2nd positions – SP SN, SM, SW, SK, SE, and SH. The top three compound consonants by frequency are SH, SW and SP.  It was time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd Word: WHIPS: My gutfeel was telling me that the answer word begins with either SH, SW or SP.  With that in mind I chose WHIPS as the elimination word. It did the job. My gutfeel was right today.  It was a risky move though, but today it paid off. 😊

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was in my favor. 😊
