Wordle bulletin – Week of December 4, ‘23 (12/4-12/10) (#898-#904)

Wordle #904 (December 10, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.3

Today’s tactics: after the seed word, time to deploy the discovery (DiscY©)strategy.  I used BLINK as the second guess. It eliminated all but two – AGAIN, and CHAIN.  AGAIN Had been used once before, leaving only one possibility.

Wordle #903 (December 9, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.8

Today’s tactics: the seed word was reasonably effective today. The objective of the second guess was to confirm the position (PCon©) of T and search for additional letters (DiscY©). I chose SHOUT as the second guess. It did the job – only one possibility.

Wordle #902 (December 8, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.6

Today’s tactics: The seed word was very effective today! Only 11 possibilities were left. For the second guess, the objective was to search for additional consonants (DiscY©). I chose CHALK as the second guess. It eliminated 9 of the 11 possibilities leaving me with just two – SHARD and SHARP. Since SHARD has already been used, the answer was SHARP.

Wordle #901 (December 7, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.3

Today’s tactics: the seed word was reasonably effective. The purpose of the second guess was to confirm the position of the letter E (PCon©) and to search for additional letters (DiscY©). I used HYPED as the second guess. It eliminated all but three words – SLEEP, SWEEP, and SPIEL. The last two have already been used by Wordle in the past. So, SLEEP was the answer.

Wordle #900 (December 6, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.8

Today’s tactics: the seed word revealed only one letter (A), but not its position. The objective of the second guess was to determine the actual position of the letter A and search for additional letters. I used CLOAK as the second word. It narrowed the choice to three possibilities – GONAD, WOMAN, and MONAD. Usage data led to WOMAN.  Luckily it worked.

Wordle #899 (December 5, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.7

Today’s tactics:  the seed word revealed none. At this stage hundreds of possibilities. Needed to come up with a DiscY© (discovery) word. The word I chose is BOINK. It narrowed the field to 8 possibilities, including the treacherous five orthographic neighbor words ending in OUND. I needed to apply the EnotE© strategy using an elimination word. I chose FLUMP. It narrowed the field to just two words- WOUND, and YOUNG. It was hard to decide between the two. The letter W in position one was used just yesterday. Whereas the letter Y has not been used for the last 7 or 8 days.  so, I decided to go with YOUNG. Luckily it worked.

Wordle #898 (December 4, 2023)
NY Times WordleBot average score: 3.7

Today’s tactics: after the seed word, 16 possibilities.  Needed to come up with a DiscY© (discovery)/PCon© (position-confirmation) word as the second guess. Chose CROFT.  It narrowed the choice to two words – ROUST and WORST. Used usage data to select between the two. Luckily it worked for me today.
