Wordle #826 (September 23, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.8
Triad: SLATE/RHINO/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: After the first two words of the triad, seven possible answers. Picked one of the seven as an elimination word based on frequency and usage data. Luckily it worked as the target word. 😊😊😊😊😊

Wordle #825 (September 22, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.6
Triad: SLATE/RHINO/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s wordle: After the seed word, I chose to enter an elimination word with 4 high frequency consonants as the second guess instead of the 2nd word of the triad with 3 high frequency consonants. It narrowed the choice to only one. 😊😊😊😊😊

Triad: SLATE/RHINO/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: After the seed word, 4 possible answers, all belonging to one orthographic neighbor set. Used an elimination word instead of the second word of the triad to eliminate all but one. 😊😊

Wordle #823 (September 20, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 4.0
Triad: SLATE/RHINO/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: after the seed word, 14 possibilities including three sets of orthographic neighbor words. My choice of the second word (RANCH) as the elimination word proved to be highly effective since only one solution remained after that word. Today’s second word was not the second word in the triad since the seed word had already revealed the presence of tow vowels. 😊😊

Wordle #821 (September 18, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 4.4
Triad: SLATE/RHINO/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: I didn’t use the second word from the triad. Instead, I used a different word – CRONY, based upon the fact that the seed word revealed the absence of three high frequency consonants (S, L & T) and one high frequency vowel (E). After the second word, there were 7 possibilities including two sets of orthographic neighbor words. ouch!

Using the premise that past tense form of verbs is not favored, frequency distribution in the 1st and the 5th spot is one of the determining factors (since spots 2-4 were already known), common usage in English and position mix of letters, I narrowed the list from seven words to three words – GRAND, BRAND, FRANK.Β  From these three FRANK had the better odds using composite of all the tests. Luckily, Wordle God agreed with my choice. 😊
