Today’s Wordle: TASTE (Typical)[spacer height=”20px”]

NYT WordleBot average score: 4.3 (per Marc McLaren*)
WordleGuru score:  4 😊

Seed Word: ALTER: It is the first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY
2nd Word: CHASE:  It is not the second word of the triad.  I call it a reconnaissance (scouting) word.
Reason for selection: A typical Wordle word has 2 vowels. Since the seed word revealed 2 vowels, we didn’t need to search for additional vowels.  Therefore, I chose not to use the second word of the triad (SONIC). Instead, I used CHASE. I had two objectives in mind with CHASE, 1) confirm the positions of the two vowels (A and E) and 2) look for the presence of 3 high volume consonants (C, H and S).
What we learned: CHASE confirmed the position of one of the two vowels (E in the 5th spot) and revealed the presence of the consonant “S” but not its position. At this stage there are 6 possible answers including one set of orthographic neighbor words – SWEPT, SAUTE, [TASTE, PASTE, WASTE, BASTE], ☹
Next step: Deploy the EnotE© strategy.  I could not come up with one word that could eliminate 5 of the 6 possibilities. So, I had to use the 2nd best option.

3rd Word: SWEPT: It is not the third word of the triad. It is an elimination word.
What we learned: Only two possibilities left – BASTE and TASTE. The other 4 got eliminated. 😊

4th word: TASTE: Used frequency data to select between the two. Luckily the frequency data led to the target word. It was like winning a coin toss. 😊
