Wordle Bulletin # 536 (December 7, 2022)

My strategy (LEARN-W2) is built to ensure I solve 95% of the puzzles in 4 guesses or less. It is not built to always shoot for the lowest score possible. The score depends a lot on the seed word. Wordle is a game of luck and skill.  I expect the LEARN-W2 strategy to score 3 most of the time, 4 some of the time, no 2s and a few 5s.

Target Word: LIONS
Typical Wordle Word Construct
: 2 Vowels and one compound/paired consonant (2 letters or 3 letters; seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: Typical; 2 Vowels (O,U), 1  compound consonant (ST)
# Of Guesses:  3.8 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*; 4 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: RAILS; I am following my LEARN-W2© strategy in the selection of the seed word.
Seed Word Revelations: O and S, but not their positions
# Of Possible Solutions after the seed word: >25

Second Word
: CHERT; Needed to serve dual purpose – reveal and eliminate; After some deliberation, I picked CHERT with 1 vowel (E) and 4 of the 8 most frequent consonants.  It did moderately well in the two roles since the possibilities were reduce to only 3 – BOAST, JOUST, and TOAST.

Third Word: BANJO; Single purpose only – Eliminated 2 of the three possibilities.

EnotE (Eliminate-not-Enumerate) Strategy deployment: Needed 2 rounds to flush out the target word. ☹

Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill.   I am having second thoughts about the efficacy of my new strategy.  I’d wait to make a decision whether go back to my pre LEARN-W2 strategy.
