Wordle Bulletin #650 (March 31, 2023) — “Streak of 4’s continues”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: EVERY
# Of Guesses:
4.3 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru 😊

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 1 consonant (R in the 4th position), and 1 vowel (E) but not its position.  Too many possibilities at this stage.  Need more exploration.

2nd word: DOILY: (not the 2nd word of the triad STARE/COLIN/PUDGY): I chose this word based on the possible words revealed by the seed word.  It eliminated all but 6 words including 2 sets of orthographic neighbor words(ouch) – [EMERY, EVERY], REFRY, [BERRY, FERRY, MERRY]. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.

3rd word: EMERY:  I could not come up with a word to eliminate 5 of the 6 possibilities.  The 2nd best alternative I came up with after some deliberation is EMERY (it is 1 of the 6 possibilities). I prefer to use one of the possibilities as an elimination word (a lucky chance to solve the puzzle!).    Luckily it worked and led me to the target word – EVERY.

The seed word (STARE) and the second word (COLIN) represent the 10 most frequent letters in the Wordle-words to-date. The 3rd word (PUDGY) represents 5 of the next 6 highest frequency letters (11-16).

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side. It could easily have required one more guess. 😊
