Wordle Bulletin # 501 (November 2, 2022)

My strategy is built to ensure I solve 95% of the puzzles in 4 guesses or less.
It is not built to always shoot for the lowest score possible.
The score depends a lot on the seed word.
Wordle is a game of luck and skill.

Target Word: INEPT
Typical Wordle Word Construct
: 2 Vowels and one compound/paired consonant (2 letters or 3 letters; seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: Typical; 2 Vowels (I and E), one compound consonant (PT)
# Of Guesses: 3.8 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*; 3 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: ROAST; a less frequently used seed word by me
Seed Word Revelations: no vowel but one consonant in the 5th spot
# Of Possible Solutions after the seed word: Too many

Second Word: LINED; Since the seed word did not reveal any vowels, I had to search for at least one vowel. I was pretty sure there is no Y in today’s target word so essentially, I had to look for E, I, and U. I also wanted to search for additional consonants. So, I didn’t want the second word to have three vowels and only two consonants. I chose LINED as the second word. Of the five vowels, U has the lowest frequency. Therefore, I chose not to include it in the second word.
Second Word Revelations: 2 vowels (I and E) but not their positions; one consonant (N) but not its position
# Of Possible Solutions after the second word: two possible answers FEINT and INEPT.  Since FEINT is not a common word, INEPT became the answer.

Final thoughts:  Wordle is a game of luck and skill. So much depends on the seed word.  Today’s seed word revealed only 1 letter and its correct position. The second word proved to be more effective and led me to the answer.  LadyLuck was in my corner today.
