Wordle Bulletin #725 (June 14, 2023) — “Scoring a 3 is not a CRIME!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: CRIME (Typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/ paired consonant) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]

Seed Word: ALTER: first word of the triad – ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.
What we learned from the Seed Word: It revealed 1 vowel (E) and 1 consonant (R), but not their positions. Since we revealed only 1 vowel, we needed to search for more vowels.
2nd Word: SONIC: SONIC is the 2nd word of the triad. It revealed 1 vowel (I) and 1 consonant (C), but not their positions. At this stage 2 possibilities – PRICE and CRIME. Frequency data, with one exception, was too close to be able to differentiate between the two words. The only frequency metric with significant difference is the probability of the common letter C appearing in the 4th place (28%) and the 1st place (44%). Based on this data, I guessed CRIME and it worked out. My lucky day. 😊
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side. 😊
