Wordle Bulletin #705 (May25, 2023) — “One of the 13 possible words used as an elimination word proved to be the answer – LUCKY BREAK!”

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: BAGEL (Atypical – 2 vowels, 0 compound/ paired consonant) [typical – 2 vowels, 1 compound/paired consonant]
# Of Guesses: 4.1 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 3 for WordleGuru 😊

Seed Word: ROATE: first word of the triad – ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH.
What we learned from the Seed Word: Presence of 2 vowels (A, and E) but not their positions.  Since most of the Wordle words have 2 vowels, I did not need to search for additional vowels.

2nd Word: LYNCH: Since I didn’t need to search for additional vowels, I chose not to use the 2nd word of the triad (SONIC).  Instead, I wanted to find a similar word (similar to SONIC) with high frequency consonants and either A or E as the solitary vowel, to try to confirm the vowel’s exact position but could not come with it.  So, I had to find one with either U or Y.  I chose LYNCH to look for the presence of 4 high frequency consonants – L, N, C and H. (LUNCH would have been as effective.).   LYNCH revealed one consonant (L), but not its exact position. At this stage 13 possibilities.  It was time to deploy the EnotE © strategy.

3rd Word: BAGEL: Looking at the 13 possibilities, I could not come up with a single word that would have eliminated 12 of the 13 possibilities. So, I had to find a second-best alternative.  I prefer to use one of the possibilities as an elimination word, since it could very well be the answer. With that in mind I chose BAGEL. It proved to be the answer. Very very lucky today. 😊

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was in my favor. 😊
