Wordle Bulletin #636 (March 17, 2023) — “Not A and E again!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: MEALY
# Of Guesses: 3.7 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru ☹
Typical or atypical target word? — Atypical, it contains 3 vowels (E, A and Y) and no compound consonant. The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.
Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 2 letters – A in the first position and E without revealing its position. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more discovery.
2nd word: CHOIL (2nd word of the triad STARE/CHOIL/PUDGY): It revealed L but not its position. At this point there were 4 possibilities with one less common word – MEALY LEAFY, LEAKY, and ELAND (less common). Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
3rd word: LEAFY – I prefer to use one of the possible words as an elimination word. Either of LEAFY or LEAKY would have served the purpose. I chose LEAFY; lost the coin toss.
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not on my side. I lost the coin toss.
