Wordle bulletin – Week of November 6, ‘23 (11/06-11/12) (#870-#876)

Wordle #876 (November 12, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.5
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Today’s tactics: After the seed word, there were 12 possibilities. Needed to deploy the EnotE© strategy. Chose LYMPH as the elimination word. It did the job, only one possibility after the 2nd guess.😊

Wordle #875 (November 11, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.6
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Today’s tactics: after the seed word, I looked for a PCon© (position confirmation) word. I chose TAROT as the PCon© word. It did the job by narrowing the choice to just one word. 😊

Please note that the PCon© word TAROT has all the three letters revealed by the seed word, but not their positions.  The objective of the PCon© word is to help in revealing the exact positions.  As an example, the letter T can only be in the 3rd position.

Wordle #874 (November 10, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.2
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Today’s tactics: today’s seed word was extremely effective as it narrowed the choice to only one word.😊😊😊😊😊

Wordle #873 (November 9, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 4.8
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Today’s tactics: the seed word and a non-triad second word narrowed the choice to four possibilities – PLACE, FLAME, GLAZE, and FLAKE. My gutfeel was leading me to GLAZE since it has a rarely used letter (Z). Luckily it worked. Otherwise, I may have been in big trouble. This is 2 days in a row that my gut feel has worked. I should not be relying on gut feel for the coming days.

Wordle #872 (November 8, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 4.6
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s wordle: after the first two words of the triad, five possible solutions- AGING, APING, ANIMA, NINJA, KINDA. My gut feel was telling me that the answer is NINJA. The main reason is it has a rarely used letter in the fourth position – the letter J. In fact, it has never been used in that position until today.  Further, the word NINJA would also serve as a PC (Position Confirmation) word since it has two instances of N and one instance each of I and A. Today my gut feel was proven right. 😊

Wordle #871 (November 7, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.8
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: the seed word was not as effective today since it revealed only one letter. I decided to use a non-triad second word (CHINO) in order to reveal additional letters, especially the vowels. It too was only partially effective. It still left me with 11 possibilities to deal with. I had to rely on the EnotE© strategy and chose FILMY as the elimination word. It did the job.

In hindsight, I was wrong to think that the last letter is going to be a Y. I should have looked at T also as a possibility based on its frequency.  A better strategy would have been a combination of the EnotE© and PC (position confirmation) strategies.   Based on this strategy, I would have chosen LIMIT, since it has 2 I’s and 1 T.  The letters L and M would have worked to narrow the possibilities to less than 11.  Live and learn.

Wordle #870 (November 6, 2023) – NY Times WordleBot score: 3.1
Triad: STARE/COLIN/PUDGY

Tactics for today’s Wordle: after the seed word, 5 possibilities – TRACE, TRADE, ORATE, IRATE, and CRATE. Needed to deploy the EnotE© strategy. I selected DICOT as the elimination word. Luckily, it did the job. A better elimination word would have been TONIC since there are two possibilities that include the letter C (CRATE and TRACE). Phew!  Lucky break.
