Wordle Bulletin #679 (April 29, 2023) — “As expected a 4 after a string of 3s (regression to the mean)”
Note: Today is the 4th day of using my tried-and-true triad — ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH.
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: CEDAR
# Of Guesses 3.6 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru. ☹
Seed Word: ROATE
What we learned from the Seed Word: presence of R, A and E, but not their exact positions. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need to eliminate all but a few.
2nd word: SULCI: the second word of the triad ROATE/SULCI/NYMPH. Seven possibilities at this stage – [CAPER, CAGER, CARER], PACER CEDAR, CREEK, and CREAM. Need to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
3rd word: PACER: I like to use one of the possibilities as an elimination word if it makes sense. In today’s Wordle, it means solving the puzzle in 3 guesses. I chose PACER from the list (I discounted CARER and CAGER as low usage words). PACER did its job and led to the target word – CEDAR.
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in my favor otherwise PACER would have been the answer. ☹
