Wordle Bulletin #675 (April 25, 2023) — “Another 5; Not again! So soon!!

Note: Today is the last day for the CHAOS/TIMER/DUPLY triad.   From tomorrow I will be going back to ALTER/SONIC/PUDGY.

Today’s Wordle:
Target Word
: JOKER
# Of Guesses 5.3
WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 5 for WordleGuru. 😐

Seed Word: TIMER.
What we learned from the Seed Word: One vowel (E) in the 4th spot and one consonant (R) in the 5th spot.  Hundreds of words have the ER ending. ☹

2nd word: CHAOS: (2nd word of the triad – CHAOS/TIMER/DUPLY – I decided to switch the 1st and 2nd words). It revealed 1 vowel (O), but not its position.  At this stage 18 possibilities.  Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.  There is no way one single word could eliminate 17 of the 18 possibilities, especially given that there were many orthographic neighbor words among the 18. The goal was to find a word that would eliminate as many as possible.

3rd word: ROWDY: ROWDY eliminated 9 of the 18. We had to deploy the EnotE© strategy again.

4th word: This time I chose BLING as an elimination word.  Disappointingly, it eliminated only 7, leaving me with 2 possibilities to deal with – JOKER and POKER.  Now it was a 50/50-coin toss.  I got lucky and picked the right word, i.e., JOKER. No skill needed for this decision. ☹

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side, looking for a positive in the negative (5 guesses; could have been 6).
