Wordle Bulletin #660 (April 10, 2023) — “Show of fours!”

Today’s Wordle:

# Of Guesses:
3.9 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru

Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed one consonant (R) and one vowel (E) but not their positions. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more exploration.

2nd word: COLIN: (2nd word in my “go-to” triad – STARE/COLIN/PUDGY). It revealed one consonant (N), but not its position.  At this stage 6 possibilities [NERVY, NERDY], [NEVER, NEWER], RENEW, and UNDER.  I discounted NERVY and NERDY as “not regular” words. Time to deploy the EnotE © strategy.

3rd word: NEVER: I like to use one of the possible words as an elimination word if it makes sense. Sometimes I do get lucky — the elimination word happens to be the target word. I used NEVER based on my best judgment. It led me to the answer.

The seed word (STARE) and the second word (COLIN) represent the 10 most frequent letters in the Wordle-words to-date. The 3rd word (PUDGY) represents 5 of the next 6 highest frequency letters (11-16).

Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not a major factor, either way.
