Wordle Bulletin #656 (April 6, 2023) — “D… orthographic neighbor words!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: LEAFY
# Of Guesses: 4.1 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru 😐
Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed no consonant, but two vowels (A and E), A in the third position and E without it position. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more exploration.
2nd word: COLIN: (2nd word in my “go-to” triad – STARE/COLIN/PUDGY). It revealed one consonant (L), but not its position. Three possibilities at this stage including 2 orthographic neighbor words – [LEAFY, LEAKY], and MEALY. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
3rd word: LEAKY: I prefer to use one of the possibilities as an elimination word if it makes sense. Today it did. Either LEAFY or LEAKY would have served as an effective elimination word. I chose LEAKY and lost the coin toss. ☹
The seed word (STARE) and the second word (COLIN) represent the 10 most frequent letters in the Wordle-words to-date. The 3rd word (PUDGY) represents 5 of the next 6 highest frequency letters (11-16).
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not in my corner. ☹
