Wordle Bulletin #641 (March 22, 2023) — “COLIN vs. CHOIL for 2nd word.”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: DUVET
# Of Guesses: 3.9 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru ☹
Seed Word: STARE – The “go-to” seed word starting March 8, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed T and E but not their positions. Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more discovery.
2nd word: COLIN (2nd word of the triad STARE/COLIN/PUDGY): I changed my 2nd word to COLIN instead of CHOIL. The only difference is COLIN has N in place of H (rest of the 4 letters are the same). The reason is that N has a slightly higher frequency than H.
COLIN didn’t reveal any letters (neither would have CHOIL). At this point there were 14 possibilities. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
3rd word: HYPED – I could not come up with just one word that would eliminate all but 1 possibility. So, I had to look for the 2nd best option. I picked HYPED as the elimination word. It worked and led to the target word – DUVET.
Final Thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not a major factor either way.
