Wordle Bulletin #625 (March 6, 2023) — “Can’t keep the 4 away!”
Today’s Wordle:
Target Word: PINKY
# Of Guesses: 4.0 WordleBot average per Marc McLaren*, 4 for WordleGuru.
Typical or atypical target word? — Typical, it contains 2 vowels (I, Y) and 1 compound consonant (NK). The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.
Seed Word: STAIR – The “go-to” seed word starting March 1, 2023.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed 1 letter (I), but not its position Too many possibilities at this stage. Need more discovery.
2nd word: CLONE (the 2nd word of the go to pair STAIR/CLONE): 10 possibilities at this stage – [DINKY, KINKY, PINKY], UNIFY, VYING, FUNGI, NIPPY, WINDY, ZINGY and DINGY. Time to deploy the EnotE strategy.
3rd word: DINKY; Could not think of a single word that would eliminate 9 of the 10. Chose a second best. Thankfully it reduced the list to just 2 words – KINKY, and PINKY. Interestingly, the 3rd word of the triad (PUDGY) would have eliminated all but PINKY!
4th word: PINKY – chose based on frequency and mix data. Won the coin toss! 😊
Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was on my side.
