Target Word: POLKA

Typical or atypical target word? — Typical, it contains 2 vowels (O and A) and 1 compound consonant (LK). The “norm” is 2 vowels and 1 compound/paired consonant.
Seed Word: ALERT – “go-to” seed word.
What we learned from the Seed Word: The seed word revealed two letters (A and L), but not their positions.
2nd word: SONIC (the “go-to” 2nd word); It revealed the presence of O in the 2nd position. 8 possibilities at this stage – DOULA, KOALA, LOAMY, LOOFA, LOYAL, MODEL, MOOLA, and POLKA. I discounted MOOLA. Time to deploy the EnotE© strategy.
3rd word: LOAMY – I could not think of a word that would eliminate 6 of the 7. I picked LOAMY as the best alternative. It could not eliminate DOULA and POLKA. Now it was a coin toss.
4th word: DOULA – I lost the coin toss. POLKA was the answer.
Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. Sometimes luck favors the game and sometimes it favors the player. Today luck was not on my side.
Regression to the mean continues unabated. I am moving farther and farther away from my aspirational goals. ☹☹☹☹☹
