Wordle Bulletin # 467 (September 29, 2022)
Target Word: SCALD
Typical Wordle Word Construct: 2 Vowels and one or more compound consonants (seen with >50% frequency)
Today’s Wordle Word Construct: Atypical, 1 vowel (A) and 2 compound consonants (SC and LD)
Difficulty: “For Today’s Wordle Some may think it is easy, while others need almost all the guesses to get it.” – per Marc McLaren*; “Nothing out of the ordinary” per WordleGuru
# Of Guesses: 4.0 per Marc McLaren*; 3 for WordleGuru
Seed Word: SOARE
Seed Word Revelations: 1 vowel (A) and 1 consonant (S) both in in exact positions
Second Word: LYNCH
Primary Objective for the 2nd word: Reveal consonants (L, N, C, H); I had a hunch that A may be the only vowel today.
Revelations from the 2nd word: Two consonants (L, C), but not in the exact positions
# Of Possible Solutions After the 2nd Word: Just three – SCALD, SCALP and SCALY. Based on the frequency distribution, Y in the 5th position should occur every 5-6 days on an average. Two days ago, the target word was SOGGY. I didn’t think they would repeat Y after only 2 days. So, I ignored it. Between SCALD and SCALP, SCALD had a higher frequency, so I chose SCALD. Bingo!
Final thoughts: Wordle is a game of luck and skill. My reliance on frequency distribution worked today. LadyLuck was smiling on me!
